There was "Titanic" A Novel by Robert Friedlaender published in 1940 that used Astor and his Wife Madeleine except she was called Helia in the book. The Strauses also put in an appearance as secondary characters. The Asian Man saved by Fifth Officer Lowe also but in appearance and was the keeper of the jewel. That's right had a jewel in it like the heart of the ocean too. I thought James Cameron got a hold of this book. Pity it wasn't re-published when the movie came out in 1996. I got a copy from the library in around 98 and read it. The Plot stayed with me. Far out there.
