Hope someone see this...........as it is an old thread. Does anyone know of ANY other bloody reason besides distress that a ship would fire rockets in the middle of the night, and in the middle of nowhere, except perhaps an arranged rendezvous??? that's the part of the whole story of the Californian that has always puzzled me, the "ho hum" attitude of the officers of the Californian. I should think that ANY sighting of a rocket, let alone 8 of them, would warrant closer examination. PS I have learned an incredible lot from reading these old discussions. I used to think I knew a lot about the Titanic, but there are those here who amaze me with their knowledge.
