Given that Henry Aldridge and Son conduct regular auctions of Titanic and Ocean Liner memorabilia, and not just the ones held at the BTS convention every year, I thought it might be worthwhile to start a thread on them. So many interesting Titanic items have passed through their capable hands!
Andrew Aldridge is very happy with the September auction held this past weekend - sounds like it was a tremendous success. The Claud Lancaster book that I was so interested in made £2800, and the Wheelton photos went for £1600. He tells me the top price top prices went to the 2nd Class Titanic Passenger List at £26000, and the Austin Partner onboard letter went for £18000. 92% of lots were sold, so April 2005 at the BTS looks promising indeed!
I was particularly interested in the Austin Partner material, as this was one of the sites Ben Holme took us out to on his cemetery tour back in 2003. Partner's monumental sculpture is exquisite - quite in a class of its own from the generic angels.
