I guess i wanted to continue this conversation from the previous thread, but before i do so i would like to offer an apology to Jason and others. I guess at the time i had gotten caught up in the heat of the discussion, and for that im sorry. As for my own take on the historical signifigance, i do still firmly believe this subject has a place in schools, on many levels. The tragedy and loss of life are the obvious ones, but let us also not forget the impact it made on travel. Indeed for a while i think many people had a great trepedation about travel after this incident. The changes that came about in navagation are also notable. But i still feel its best lesson is if you try and teach the impact that it had on the society..People changed from this.
