I have been cast in the role of Ida Strauss in "Titanic", the musical, at Country Dinner Playhouse in Denver, Colo. and would like to know more about her and her family; her children, siblings, etc. Thanks

Sue,
There is certainly no dearth of Straus (spelled with one "s") information available out there. Your best bet is to contact the family historical society:

Straus Historical Society, Inc.
P.O. Box 416
Smithtown, NY 11787

Phillip

I am a "fan" of the Ida & Isador and have found many interesting things about them thur a regular web search of the last name. I especially love a note to his children from Isador written a number of years before his (their) death. I'd be happy e-mail it to you if you'd like.
Congrats on your role!

An interesting note about Ida Straus. She nearly died on the Caronia, just before sailing on the Titanic. She occupied the lower berth in her first class cabin. And without warning, the upper berth gave away and the metal corner cut right into her pillow. Had she not been sleeping with her head close to the wall, she would have been killed.
Guess she didn't have too much luck on ships, did she.
