I`m curios about this 1912 German film.I believe the British Film Institute had a showing a year or two ago.Are there any plans to release the film or are they restoring it? Just curios!

My German ex-flatmate and good friend had a copy of this sent out from Germany when we were living in England. Don't know the source - I think a friend in the German society sent it to her.

Very interesting flick, if only because it was filmed so close to the actual disaster...costume, etc. was about as close to the real contemporary deal as you're going to see on film.

Once watched it with a mate who, eventually tired of translating the German narrative cards, began providing his own voice-over dialogue for the silent film. Entertaining!

Be useful if it could be packaged up with some other 1912 material - the newsreels, for example.
