Info on Bridgets

I been doing research on the four different Bridgets that boarded at Cork, or Queenstown whatever you wish to call it now who they were traveling with what their relationship with them where. There was
Bridget Bradley (lived)
Bridget Driscoll (lived)
Bridget O'Neill (died)
Bridget O'Sullivan (died)
I'd really really love to know more about these girls. Do you know if it's possible to get their ages to I'd look myself if someone was willing to tell me where to look. I'm a new member here but I love this site so far its' been very helpful. Thanks
Eliza

Hi Courtney,
The Irish girls had a tendency to make themselves younger than they actually were. As best as I've been able to determine, these were their ages:

Bridget Bradley--22 (this is definite)
Bridget Driscoll--(really O'Driscoll)--27 (this is definite)
Bridget O'Neill--(should be Bridget McNeill)-about 27 (per the 1901 Irish census which listed her as 16 years old).
Bridget O'Sullivan--19 (she would have been 20 in May had she lived). This one is definite also.

There is more information about all the Irish in Senan Molony's book "The Irish Aboard Titanic" which you can probably still order from some of the online bookstores--last I knew, the second printing was almost gone though.

Regards,
Phil Gowan

Phil< Thanks. Do you know where I could get more info on their lives and stuff too? I'll look it up and stuff I just came to a dead end and need a little help on where to look.
Kyrila< Umm I guess so I like Scully from the X files and elisa from gargoyles so I picked that as an ol name. I got your qustion right?
In my book there's an Delia Mahon but not a Bridget Delia Mahon my friend said he found her name was that a misprint in what he found maybe?Thank you two both very very much finding out about them is very very important to me. *huggles*

Courtney,
Bridget Mahon's birth certificate says Bridget--she was barely 20 years old on Titanic (definite). Delia was and is a sort of nickname for Irish girls named Bridget. There was also Bridget Delia McDermott (age 31-definite) on Titanic (later Mrs. Lynch). All of these have good biographies in the book we mentioned, THE IRISH ABOARD TITANIC. Bridget Bradley's daughter, Mary Higgins, has also written a book about her mother and the last I knew she still had copies for sale. Once in awhile that book pops up on e-bay as well.

My best,
Phil

Two Scullys on one board?

What, oh what is this world coming to?

BTW, Molony's "Irish Aboard Titanic" is still available from Amazon, FWIW. (Gotta love acronyms, IMHO)

Josh.

Well I'm gonna try and get my mum and dad to get me a copy of that for Christmas hehe.
Phil< Really I never know about Delia being another name for Irish girls being called Bridget. Thanks very very much *huggles*

My mum said that they would try to order it. Yeah! Does anyone know why some names you can't click on and other you can? With the Delia thing does that mean all girls from Ireland with the name Delia are Bridgets too?

Does that mean that all these girls are ordering clothes from bRIDGeT*S... oh nevermind.

Courtney,
You definatelly won't be disappointed by Molony's book. It's excellent. (Sen's certainly been on the forefront lately, hasn't he?)

Josh.

Ok I got Senan's book for Christmas Yeah! Bridget O'Sullivan was listed as 22 in the book? Was she 19 or 22? Thank you soo much I love the book I've been reading it all day

Courtney,
Disregard previous message until I can actually look at my copy of the birth certificate--I have a discrepancy between what I have on my spreadsheet and what I previously wrote to you. I'll check when I get home from work and give you the lowdown.

Phil
