John,

Thanks, I hope so too. I don't doubt it either, that a memorial service is held there every year and plus, everyone there is aware of the disaster as Dom indicated.

It would be great to visit the area.

The easter Canadians, those along the St. Lawrence probably do remember the Empress, but if you go a few provinces west, you will also get blank stares from almost everyone if you bring up the Empress. Western Canada doesn't know much about it I'm sad to say...

Yesterday marked the 92nd anniversary of the sinking. The annual memorial service was held on Sunday afternoon organized by the Salvation Army. A few hymns were sung and the names of the 150 Salvation Army Officers that were lost, were read out.

It was a beautiful service and it was a gorgeous day for it.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Dave Zeni, Craig Stringer and Geoff Whitfield who have done excellent work in researching the Empress of Ireland and keeping its memory alive for others.
