Is this Captain Smith on RMS Olympic?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place and is a bit too simple for the members on here to answer. I purchased a photo album from a house clearance dealer a while ago and when I looked through noticed photos of what looks to me like Captain Smith and RMS Olympic, but obviously I am not an expert and guess most people think all Captain's of a certain age with a beard from that era are him. The album originally belonged to a military officer and there are several photos of other ships at least one of which I think is HMS Hawke. Anyway, grateful if someone can tell me if it is Captain Smith or not.

While the second picture is indeed the Olympic, I can fairly say the man in the photograph isn't captain Smith. Captain Smith had a white beard comparable to the style King Edward VII had.

Looks like it may be Capt J B Ranson.
