Isador Straus Plaque on EBay

Just dropped by to say thanks to Dave for the invite...and the link to my plaque! I have enjoyed reading the many articles here, and can see that this site is frequented by a GREAT group of folks! I hope you will continue to allow me to drop by...and oh, sorry about the misspelling job of Titanic! (thats what happens when you have 1 too many glasses of wine during the day!) Thanks again!...and good luck to all the serious folks bidding on the plaque!

Hi Bob,
Good to see you here!
You are more than welcome, I hope you can stay around and enjoy the atmosphere. For those who haven't found the link, here it is again: Plaque
Good luck with the sale, I know you are quite happy with it so far.

Keep in touch
Take care
David

Thanks!! Beverly and Dave!

I hope to stop by every nite. Where is everyone located?...and what kind of things are you looking for? I am in New Jersey...and often get a chance to be around Nautical shops, etc. I'll keep my eyes open for ya!

Hi Bob,
If you want to find where we are all located, you can simply click on our names in the left column and it will give you some info on most of us.
As you may know I am located in Australia.
On this board we have some of the finest people and the finest Titanic collections available.
I hope to see you in the Titanic circles in the future.

David

Today, we found out why e-bay may NOT be the place to deal in! Apparently, another bidder came in and raised the price of my Isador Straus plaque up. The current high-bidder retracted his bid...and, falsely stated!...the reason as "possible shill bidding"...even though the new bidder has 151...COUNT 151...previous transactions! I have requested that e-bay investigate...but we ALL know that they will DO NOTHING! I am now contemplating pulling the auction and maybe waiting 10 years before attempting another...FORMAL Christies or Sotheby's auction. Can anyone tell me if there might be some interest in displaying this plaque in exhibitions, etc? I would like to let the public see it!

Thanks for your help!
Bob

I won't mince words here Bob: That sucks!!! I'm sorry that has happened to you and your good intentions. The plaque is beautiful and I thought it was such a good idea to offer it in a way that was accessable to everyone (not just those who are "in the know" when it comes to Christies or Sotherby's auctions)
I'm sure there is a buyer out there or a museum that would be pround to own it. Good luck and let "us" know if there is anything our community can do to help.
-kate.
