John and Nelle Snyder

To follow up on an earlier post, John's father, Fred, married Susan Mary Pillsbury, daughter of Minnesota governor John S. Pillsbury in 1885. She died in 1891, and in 1895, Fred married to Leonora Stuart Dickson.

Fred served as alderman of Minneapolis from 1892 to 1896. He served one term in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1896 to 1898 and one term in the Minnesota State Senate Senate from 1898 to 1901.

In 1912, Fred was appointed to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents and served for 38 years before retiring in January 1951. He died just one month later on February 14, 1951.
