Kosher CookScroll Room

Was there a Hebrew (Kosher) cook aboard the Lusitania? What about a "Scroll Room" like on the Titanic? If the Cunard's competitor White Line offered kosher meals and services on their Titanic, wouldn't the Lusitania also have them? Weren't they trying to attract Jewish passengers to their ships?

Hello Morton,

welcome to ET. I have not seen anything in the literature or the plans that points to this. This does not surprise me given the ship was built in 1907. I didn't know this about the Titanic though.

I know the Queen Mary had a Scroll Room on B Deck and would conclude the existance of a Kosher pantry onboard as well. The QE2 does have a synagogue on 3 deck.

This topic was debated to death on titanic-titanic ages ago. It seems
that someone decided that there should have been a Kosher cook/special
preparation room/prayer room for Jewish passengers on the Titanic, so therefore,
there must have been one. The poster wouldn't listen to reason.

The kosher cook on Titanic has in fact been identified and the role of Jewish passenger "guardian" and cook established at least by 1910, at least it seems, by WS.
