Last Body

I read in a book (I think it was An Illustrated History) that the last body to be recovered was found in 1918(!ewwwwww!)and was horribly decomposed. He was found to be a 1st Class Dining Room steward. The only way to identify him was by a name tag on his jacket. Does anyone know if that's true? What ship found him?
David.

Hi David,

The last body to be recovered was that of 1st class saloon steward, W. F. Cheverton. His badly decomposed body was found in June 1912 by the steamer Ilford. He was buried at sea.

Hope this helps,
Ben
