to whom it may concern according to the book the discovery of the titanic by dr. robert ballard fourth officer joseph boxhall figured out that the position of the titanic when it was sinking was41 46 north by 50 14 west i dont know the exact position where it actually sunk but i hope this will be of some help jennifer mueller
Actually, the Titanic's position is some 13 1/2
miles ESE of its radioed position, at around 41 43
N, 49 56 W. The CQD transmission put the ship on
the west side of the ice field, a field she hadn't
encountered yet. This also accounts for Carpathia
encountering the lifeboats a little earlier than
expected.
I am looking for a map of the titanic's path taken (with long.lat. incl.) or information as to where it was when the iceberg was spotted. The information I have now, as to where it was found is: either: 41W46 50N14 OR: 49W56/41N43...hope someone can help me out. (email is: [email protected])
Boxhall mad a little mistake while calculating the position. He had to convert the mileages into distance of longitude. Find detailed information with brilliant explanations on
