Edith Rosenbaum Russell had family there. She herself was caught in the big tornado that hit Louisville in 1890. As late as the 1920s she was corresponding with family members who lived in Asheville, Kentucky.

Dr. Ernest Moraweck lived in Louisville for a time. He was lost in the sinking of Titanic. Also, the "alpha passenger"--Anthony Abbing, was a third class passenger lost on Titanic. Although from Cincinnati, his present day survivors live in the Louisville area. Mrs. Clara Frauenthal also has relatives there.
