Hi everyone - it's facinating to know there are so many people out there who share an interest in something which happened so long ago. My great grandfather, D.I William Pierpoint was one of the lucky ones to survive the sinking of the Lusitania. As I write this, I have his hand written account beside me. He wrote: "The ship was sinking....I was alone now. I looked round and thought to myself, 'Well, what are you going to do now', when I felt my feet wet and looking down, saw that the deck was under water". He was eventually sucked down and blown out of one of the funnels.
