hi, does anyone know where to get a picture of the lusitania's vents that looked like barrels with lids?

Bad design though. They were continually having to be repaired. They just could'nt handle those North Atlantic gales.

I could be wrong, but I think they were either dark brown or black.

Right first time. and interior is similar to the funnel and bit redder.
If you have or can get a copy of Dr Ballard's book Exploring the Lusitania, of his 1993 mission.
Anything by Ken Marschall is a good starting point.

Russell, Just imagine the boiler room with rain and sea spray coming down into the stokehold when the lids came off. This happening spectaularly when a huge wave hit the ship in January 1910. They probably couldn't see for the steam.
