Memorable Titanic Movie Lines

Seems like we need a place to organize all the recent great postings on Titanic Movie Lines- some comic, some tragic, some unlikely and some right on target. Some entertaining postings have already been posted under You Know you Want It. My candidate for the WORST line in a Titanic movie has to be Anne Archer in Raise the Titanic,"I just can't put the wormie on the hookie"- said to David Selby. What's yours?

The scene where Lightoller is sitting on top of the collapsible boat thinking, " None of this will look good for my career ". Woops! My error! That was Pellegrino's almost CINEMATIC like portrayal of Lightoller from his new book. I guess this should be filed under books that come across like B movies....
Hopefully no one was taking me seriously.

I liked the line in the 1997 movie when Mr. Andrews says to Rose after the ship has already started sinking, "You remember what I told you about the boats". Calvin is looking on still confused in disbelief thinking the ship can't sink. Roses' eyes go wide and she puts her hand over her mouth as she realizes the severity of it the situation.

I like the line in the 1968 television series "The Time Tunnel" where time traveler Tony yells at Captain Smith (played by the guy who told Gort "klatu beratta nickto" in The Day The Earth Stood Still, i.e., Michael Neville, or something like that), "This ship is going to sink and everyone will die unless you order them to lower the lifeboats now." Then, fellow time traveler Doug is sent to Titanic with an April 16, 1912 newspaper, which will supposedly convince everyone that the ship did indeed sink. Later, after Titanic strikes the iceberg, Captain Smith asks Tony if he knows whether he, Smith, is going to die.

Wow Joe-I had almost forgotten that episode-it's on video somewhere in my closet- from the 60's I remember. Didn't it end with another ship coming through the fog with Andrea Doria on the lifering? Nicolodeon was running old Time Tunnels- that was James Darren as Tony. He was my teen hearthrob at the time. Yeah- and I saw the Beatles LIVE too! ViewMaster (remember THOSE you oldies- ) also had a 3 card Titanic Time Tunnel set- THAT must be worth something./shelley

Isn't there a hidden message in the Beatle's lyrics dedicated to you?
I long for the days where you could hop in a psychadelic bus with your singing family.

Ok- can't remember what this is from: Lady in the lifeboat:"That man over there is SMOKING-I think it's disgusting at a time like this!"
Anybody remember? I tried this line in a restaurant the other day.

Shelley,
I'm afraid you're confusing the Titanic episode on The Twilight Zone with the one on the Time Tunnel. In the Zone, it seems to me that a guy is found alongside a ship in a Titanic lifeboat (in a fog)(I understand that this story was loosely based on the incident with Oceanic and Collapsible A). While aboard he discovers it's the Lusitania, but can't do anything about it. He sees the torpedo hit. Then, somehow at the end, he ends up on another ship, and a sailor turns to look at him, on his sailor's hat it says: "Andrea Doria." This may have been the episode where the guy had an opportunity to shoot Hilter, but missed, or something. The point is that it's impossible to change history, and frustrating to watch it happen when you already know the outcome.

Hey Joe,

You're right about the actor in "The Time Tunnel" episode playing Captain Smith. His name was Michael Rennie. Also, along these lines, he did the narration for the 53' "Titanic", specifically the ending.

Best regards,
Cook

Joe: You are MY man for Titanic Movie Jeopardy!Yep- right again. Had also forgotten the Twilight Zone episode. Now I am remembering one show that started with the Flying Dutchman-maybe that's the Twilight Zone one. Remember the episode of Upstairs/Downstairs when Lady-what's-her-name was lost on Titanic? /s.

Hope you don't mind my barging in here but I got curious.

Shelly, are you talking about the one featuring an ocean liner full of elderly people (Wilfred Hyde-White, Gladys Cooper, Alan Napier, Cecil Kellaway) and a young couple come on board? The rest end up putting the young couple off in a lifeboat and then, apparently sail away into oblivion.

Or is that a different one?

Best regards,
Cook

Yes I remember that too- Didn't they put the young couple off because they knew the ship would sink? Joe -jump in here o triva master. Do you know the name of the peeress from Upstairs/Downstairs that drowned on the Titanic?

That's correct, Shelly. It was to be the last voyage of the old steamship and those on her knew this and chose to 'go out' with the ship. The couple didn't know this, according to the story, and were place in the lifeboat.

Best regards,
Cook
