Michael Rudd RIP

First off, I will accept if this thread is deemed inappropriate, or if it belongs in the Off-Topic Folder.

Anyway, I wanted to pass along the word about the death of a gentleman I knew for about 13 years; first met him in April 1995, at the THS Convention in Long Beach (on board the Queen Mary).

Michael Rudd was the travel agent and coordinator, who organized the 1996 & 2001 THS Conventions, as well as the six Titanic Heritage Tours, sponsored by THS (at least three of the tours included Millvina Dean joining us).

Anyway, for those who remember Mike, I need to let you know that he died, of cancer, this afternoon.
His passing was announced on a website dedicated to cancer patients, and their family.

Michael was also a dear friend of Millvina Dean.
In August 1997, he arranged for Millvina to cross the Atlantic, to New York, on the QE2, accompanied by several of us.

This weekend, please say a prayer for Michael Rudd and his family.

I have fond memories of Michael, during the THS convention in Halifax in 2001 where I first met him and the Maritime Heritage Tour to Ireland the following year. He was a down to earth, vibrant and full of life person. He was a wonderful tour guide, who had so much enthusiasm for what he was doing; it was contagious.

It is because of him, that I had the privilege of meeting a lot of great people which I've formed lasting friendships with, seeing so many things on the trips and being able to meet Millvina. He will be sadly missed, by those who knew him.

Since Micheal Rudd was most definately a part of the Titanic Community, this is very much the right place for it. From the descriptions I've seen here and on the THS forum, he sounds like the sort of guy I wish I had known.

TO: Michael Standart: "Thank you for those great words".
