I did come across a site which included a good Milton Long photo (with Karen Kamuda signature) and, considering it a good find, I immediately added it to my favourites. Unfortunately, a "file not found" error message appears whenever I now attempt to access the link. If you type in "Milton Clyde Long" in the yahoo search engine you'll see a link to "Thelma (MacDonald) Carabetta" which I believe includes the pic. Thankfully I had the presence of mind then to print out the image before the site disappeared into the ether!
Your very welcome, I'm glad I could be of help. I read in a different thread Jack Thayer wrote the Longs requesting a photo of Milton. It makes me wonder if he ever received one, and if so, if it still exists.
I've looked, and this is the only photo I could find of the man
After checking out the photo in the THS link, I can say that I have seen another photo of Milton Long. This was flashed briefly on the A&E special Titanic during the reading of Jack Thayer's account of how he and Milton jumped off.
Whereas the photo linked above showed his face turned toward his left, the photo on the A&E program was a head on shot. Anyone who has a copy of that program can find this segment in the 3rd quarter of the special.
I watched the tapes of the special again, and now I'm not so sure the picture of Milton Long is different from the one in the museum. For one thing on the A&E special, his picture when shown faded in and out in seconds and the edges were blurred into the general graphics of crashing waves. With those factors, I percieved that display on TV to be different from the clean picture in the museum photo.
