I'm sure it will be a great site when you get time to put some content onto it. just out of interest, you say you have been a Titanic researcher for several years, but you dont seem to have read any of your titanic books yet. what kind of research do you do, where do you get your information from if you've never even read a book and what are your specific interests?

Keep working at it Nathan, and it will be a good homepage. I once made a homepage on Geocities about the Lusitania, but have since abandoned it. I just can not find the time to keep one updated, but I am considering making my own Titanic homepage. I am doing it more for my own interest, as there are so many pages available on the subject already. Jemma has a wonderful homepage that you could add to your links.

Hi Brandon,

That homepage you were talking about is actually about to come down.

For the past few weeks Inger and I have been working on a new site, focusing on the deck officers and the wireless operators. There are very few sources of decent information online, and as you have experienced yourself, some of them are full of rubbish. we thought it was about time that a reliable source of information was made available.

The site should go online pretty soon and to start with there will be detailed biographes of Jack Phillips and James Moody. We have a good set of images going up there, some that you wont have seen before, including one of James Moody as a child.

We hope to follow this up promptly with biographies for the other officers and operators, as well as articles relating to them. One thing we also hope to bring online is a document library, whereby you can see copies of officers certificates etc.

Oh believe me, I will! You are very right about the amount of pure junk available online that people try to pass off as truth. As you said above, I was fooled into believing some of it last year.

This site sounds very interesting, and with dedicated researchers like yourselves building it, I have no doubt it will be. I am especially looking forward to the biography of Sixth Officer Moody! I'm sure this site, once it is up, will be amongst my Favorites!

Jemma I greatly look forward to seeing the page you and Inger use. Where on earth were you able to find a child hood picture of him? I greatly look forward to seeing the information on him and Jack Phillips.

You can definitely read faster than me if you managed to get all those titles finished in two days! It takes me over a week to read a book; if I'm able to do it on a daily basis, that is. If not, it takes me longer. To have read both Pellegrino books in two days alone is an incredible feat! It took me nearly two weeks to read one of them!

The photo Jemma refers to is just part of the new material we're using on the site (there are more photos, extracts of letters, etc). Hopefully it will be up and running soon - as soon as the initial pages are online we have more material to start adding. With any luck, we can address some of the myths and misinformation current on the internet about the wireless operators and deck officers.

The photo is undated, but he appears to be perhaps six or so (Jemma? Your verdict?). It's one of several 'new' photos of Moody that will be appearing on the site.

Thanks Inger, its ok that you don't have an exact age. I was just curious to around how old he was. Like if we was a todler, 6 or 7, or an early teen.
