In the new issue of 'Vanity Fair' (with Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise,Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt on the cover), there is a full page ad for the Queen Mary 2, and it suggests one can book now for the maiden voyage next year.
How far along is the construction?

Is it just me, or does it look like all the other "top heavy" cruise ships being built today? The size is impressive though.

Tarn,Thank you. From what I hear the QE2 will be used for cruises out of Southampton only starting in May,2004.And she may go on cruising until she is retired around 2010. Sincerely,Jerry Nuovo

Well I'm not rich, but I'll be aboard her for the maiden transatlantic voyage next April.

Your Welcome Jason.Tarn,I will be aboard the Queen Mary 2 also for the maiden Caribbean Cruise next January 31,2004.The Cunard Line is marketing the QM2 towards middle class people. On April 25,2004 I will be aboard QE2 when both QE2 AND QM2 sail out of New York together to Southampton and then I will sail back to New York on the QM2.And I'm not rich either. Sincerely,Jerry Nuovo

Okay..i read it speculated that all cabins on the Qe2 will be $10,000 and up per voyage...if its under $5,000 i can handle that.

But i wouldnt be surprised if the cost for maiden voyage tickets are much higher than normal.
I wish the QM2 a safe career......
For some reason the photos opf her being built remind me of the rusted Titanic wreck...

what's the deposit for a nose-bleed cabin?

Tarn, On my 11 day Caribbean Cruise the total including port charges and taxes is $2,946.70.There will be no single occupancy cabins on the QM2 so all single passengers will have to pay 150% of fare. For example the standard inside cabin that I'm in costs $1,799.00 double occupancy meaning that 2 people must be in the cabin for this fare.Otherwise if there is just a single passenger he or she pays 150%.That's why I'm paying that much because I'm traveling by myself. My total fare for the 4-25-04 crossing on the QE2 and the 5-1-04 crossing on the QM2 is $4,488.00. Sincerely,Jerry Nuovo

Tarn,The rates I quoted above are for a D5 cabin which is a standard inside cabin. On the January 31,2004 Caribbean Cruise there is a Grand Duplex for $26,499.Well I know I can't afford the Grand Duplex.Maybe if I'm lucky to win the lottery than I'll be in the Grand Duplex.Until then if I ever win the lottery,That means my QM2 cabins will be D5 which are the cheapest cabins that a passenger can get a early booking savings.
