Purser Niswander Resigns
---
M. S. Niswander, purser of the steamship Doric, has resigned from the
service of the Occidental and Oriental Steamship Company to go into business
for himself in the Orient. Niswander has been with the company for more
than fourteen years. He was the senior purser in the service and stands high
in the regard of company officials and of his shipmates. Quietly and
unobtrusively Niswander has done his work faithfully and will take with him
to his new field a wealth of good wishes. Charles Thorn has been appointed
acting purser of the Doric and I. B. Slocum takes Thorn's place as freight
clerk.
