NEW YORK, June 28---John Robinson (Jack) Binns, wireless hero of the White
Star liner Republic disaster on January 23, 1909, when he saved hundreds of
lives through his calls for aid, has joined the British Royal Flying Corps
at the recruiting station here and left immediately for a Canadian training
station.
