---
Captain H. F. David, R.D., R.N.R., commander of the White Star Liner
Olympic, is retiring owing to ill-health. He will be succeeded by Captain
Frank B. Howarth, of the Homeric. Captain David joined the White Star Line
as a junior officer in 1894, and worked up to command in 1903, since when he
has had charge of the Teutonic, Megantic, Celtic, Cedric, Belgic, Justicia,
Regina, and Adriatic. Captain David, who is a cousin of the Bishop of
Liverpool, was on board the Justicia when, after two days' attack by
submarines, she was sunk off the North Coast of Ireland.
