DR. R. S. FRENCH
---
Retired Surgeon of the White Star Liner Homeric

---
Dr. Riversdale Sampson French, for more than twenty-five years surgeon on
the White Star Line vessels, who retired in 1926 from the Homeric, died
recently of heart disease at his home near Southampton, England, Dr. T. W.
Atkins, surgeon of the Olympic, said on arrival here yesterday.

After retirement, Dr. French received a letter from the late Junius S.
Morgan, a cousin of J. P. Morgan, informing him that he had arranged a trust
fund for him whereby he would receive £500 a year for life.

The letter said it was a pleasure for the writer to do something for an old
friend. Dr. French received the money regularly every quarter, according to
Dr. Atkins, and it relieved him of all anxiety in his declining years.
