Jake, not sure. There is no date on the painting. Also, another tidbit, I am told it was a relative who did the painting. I do not know who exactly and the signature in the upper right is illegible.

My educated guess would be sometime in the 1930's, since I think he looks like he could be in his 60's, possibly late 50's. Wikipedia says he was born in 1871, so that's where my thinking comes from.

of course being 60 in the 1930's looks a lot different from being 60 today, however.

I have posted elsewhere that I am interested in selling the painting. So far no interest. I have contacted the major auction houses ( Sotheby's, Christies, and Doyle ). Any thought or suggestions on where or how to sell it would be appreciated. Also, I am wary of Ebay.

Another pic of my Great Grandfather is on the cover of Times Magazine. The issue is dated May 17, 1925. Obviously as he is on the cover, there is an in depth story on him .

Here is the cover of Times Magazine dated May 17, 1926. It is interesting in that it has his (and mine) full name. For some reason he hated his middle names.
