Olympic Changes

Hey guys,
Im not sure if any of you have seen this picture before but I thought it was pretty neat.

Cool pic because it shows the parquet dance floor that was in stalled (I think) in the 1928 refit. The floor was sold at the dispersal auction at Jarrow in 1935 and installed in the canteen at the Paint factory in Haltwhistle. It remained there until 1971 when it had to be replaced due to wear and tear.

The covers over the chairs are pretty naff though!

Ok then. Thanks for the compliment, Sahand. Just as long as you don't think we all wear khaki short shorts and shirts and wrestle crocodiles. Only one Aussie does that. I doubt he'll have hands much longer.
My best,
Alex

Hey,
Haha which card is that Daniel? LOL Alex im surprised he already didnt lose his hands. But other than that everyone at work was talking about how sexy the accents were! We just then realized that we didnt like the way we talked!

That photo also appears in the epilogue to "Olympic and Titanic: Ocean Liners of the Past," which is a reprint of the 1911 Shipbuilder with a few comments by John Maxtone-Graham added to the end.

This card is a Hoffman photograph of which there were several in the series.

Other examples include the smoking room, lounge, verandah cafe, dining room, restaurant and perhaps an exterior view.

Brian,

Beautiful views indeed, and among the 56 taken in 1920. There was a set of similar cards sold on ebay which came in a pack of 8. It also included some very rare views which were taken as part of the original 56. I wanted to bid on the cards, but by the time the auction closed, it was so above my budget that I was overwhelmed!

Daniel.
