Hi!

This photo was identified as 'J. P. Morgan' and Lord Pirrie attending Olympic's launch in 1910.

Has anyone seen it before, and if so do the two men appear to be identified correctly? After all the misidentifications on Titanic photos, you never know!

They look about right to me. That yachting cap that Lord Pirrie has on was something he always wore to such affairs. Don't know if the chap on the left is J.P. Morgan, but if not, it's still an uncanny resemblance.

Yep, that's J.P. Morgan and Lord Pirrie alright. I've seen photos of both of them in at least a couple of my videos and a few books.

That's an interesting photo, I've never seen that one before.

David,

Did you find the photograph interesting? Had you seen it before? Do you have any comment on identification of Lord Pirrie and JP Morgan?

The whole point of a discussion board is that people with a common interest share items, ask questions and discuss what comes up. For example, Mark Chirnside shared the photo he had a question about. Then, funnily enough, people discussed it. Expressing interest in a topic is par for the course.

Perhaps you've misunderstood the purpose of this board.

Hi Michael!

Thanks, it's a good point with Pirrie's cap.

Hi Jason!

Thanks for confirming Morgan's identity. It does indeed seem to be a rare photo.

Thanks to you all for your replies!

Best wishes,

Mark.
