So, I was going through Olympic’s past paint schemes when i wondered about her 1914 appearance.
Apparently, she was painted to blend in with the night. with her yellow pinstripe removed, her superstructure painted up grey and certain windows covered. She even had her funnels painted black, almost like Lusitania’s.
To my knowledge, this was the hardest period of Olympic’s career to research and i was only able to find three photographs.
the only photos i was able to find:
the paint scheme in question:
if anyone has more information, that would be good.
