I realise that the vast majority of posts on the board are friendly, relevant and appropriate to the topic however these can occasionally seem smothered by a small number of rogue posts. We all know those ones that leave a bitter taste in the mouth or seem to have no meaning or relevance to the topic or to us.
Personal differences are fine, antagonism is not
There is no way to prevent personalities clashing on an online forum but I would like to make a general request to keep any form of personal antagonism out of our discussions. So think before you post.
Allegations, rumour and innuendo have no place on this board.
Allegations of misconduct against other members of the community whether substantiated or not should be brought to my attention never published to the board. Such postings only serve to breed mistrust.
Keep on topic
Sometimes it seems that this is more than just a Titanic discussion board but actually that is all it is. A Titanic discussion board. Please try to stay on topic.
About me
I want you to realise that I do not spend my entire life watching this board. I do not follow all the threads and I do not accept any responsibility for *your* posts, only my own. The number of e-mail moans I get are significantly out of proportion from my desire to investigate them! We must be largely self-regulating.
Conversely I will not tolerate the misuse of this board and so I'm afraid you will occasionally have to put up with the odd schoolmasterish rant from me.
This board is not:
Your local IT technical support service. The board should not be used to publicise e-mail woes, virus problems etc. The message board information topic is not a dumping ground for anything you feel like that won't fit anywhere else, it is for discussion of matters relating to the site and board.
It is not a gentleman's club. Please lets try not to get into cliques. Hard I know because so may of us are friends and know each other quite well but this can be alienating and intimidating to newcomers. In-jokes are all very well but remember, the majority of people are not *in* on them. Jokes at the expense of other members can wear thin and may not be appreciated by the victim so please take care.
Every post to this board slows it down just that little bit more so please make it a post worth reading.
This board is for you, treat it and us well.
