Photo of officers

Hi Inger!

Unfortunately, both those links turned up "dead" just now. (3:02am CST US) I'm VERY interested in the "Bell Album". (I corresponded briefly with Jeff Newman regarding a cap in my posession. I thought it might be a bandsman's cap - though now it looks like it may be off George V's yacht "Brittania" - Jeff sent me an enlargement off the photo in question, it was NOT a match.) But, that bit aside, the photos are excellent! I hope he finally manages to publish a book with them in it. I'll buy it!
If you run into any sight incorporating those photos, or the ones from the photo album he thumped out of my hands on eBay that had shots of the "Republic", please let me know. They all looked fascinating.

Best regards!
John.

Hey John!

So you were bidding on the album with the Republic photo too, huh? ;-) Should be having dinner with Jeff Newman soon and hope to get a look at what was in the album. He said in a conversation that the photo shown of Republic in the description on ebay was the best photo in the book.

Yup! Jeff and another fellow smacked me down in the last few seconds... (I don't begrudge Jeff a bit though. He's a great guy, from what I've seen of my couple of correspondences with him months back.)

The Port-Bow 3/4 view of "Republic" in that album was QUITE nice! I really DO want to see the deck shots that were in that album though. There's so few pics of her, you know. (Several that are purported to be of her actually taken from the "Commonwealth/Canopic".)

Give him my best regards, and best wishes for getting published!

Ciao! John.
