This man gave his birthplace as Devonport, Devon. No one by the name of Richard Proudfoot anywhere in UK on 1901 census day. Any ideas as to parentage, date actually born etc etc.
Cheers

Have now by chance stumbled upon Richard and his mother on 1891 Devonport, Devon census and subsequently traced his father.
Family history item now added to Richard Royston Proudfoot's biography.

Richard Proudfoot was my Great Uncle. On 30th November 1895 when Richards brother Bertie was born the family where living at 38 River Street Southampton.
Both Richard and Bertie were going to sign on for the crew of Titanic but their Mother would not allow them both to sail on the same ship. They flipped a coin and Richard won.

He is my first cousin once removed. My grandmother and his mother were sisters. We stayed with “Aunt Doll” in Portsmouth in the early ‘50’s for holidays. His Dad ended up remarried in New York and died in Florida after numerous trips to South America..
