According to Jack Thayer's book, Purser McElroy assisted in the launching of one of the after lifeboats. I have seen postings on one of the Titanic discussion groups that McElroy's features matches the description of a body that was later recovered then buried at sea. Does anyone have additional details?

>>McElroy was identified as #157, picked up by the Mackay-Bennett.<<

AND he was badly decomposed and was wearing a white dinner jacket, which is no doubt why he wasn't identified right away.

Just my addendum of specifications regarding his body...

Frank, would it be okay for me to get an invitation to your forum? I read that interaction on your forum is only possible with an invitation by you. I would love to learn more about your great uncle(?). You already have me intrigued about the issue of the gun (or lack thereof).

Thanks for the links. I will certainly check them out.

Take care
