Queen Elizabeth 2 title

Hi guys,
Right now I am in a discussion with a friend over the internet about the liners. One subject brought up time and time again is as follows; was the QE2 given the title RMS? He and I both think so, but we have never heard the ship being mentioned as a Royal Mail Steamer, so neither of us can be sure.
If anyone can shed some light on this, and on the Queen Mary 2, it would be appreciated.
Taa,
Alex

I'm pretty sure they ARE, but you can check cunard.com and I think they may tell you.

I suppose QE2 might have been styled RMS in her early days, though I've never seen her so-called. Mr Boeing rather spoiled the RMS game in the 1960s. Certainly neither QE2 nor QM2 would be called RMS today, partly because of aircraft, but also because they wander the oceans on pleasure cruises rather than on fixed scheduled voyages.

Of course QM2 could never be RMS because she's not a steamer. RMDS?

Yes, the QE2 was RMS. In David Hutchings book, ''A Ship For All Seasons'', there is an image of a official QE2 Letter, it states in the letter ''RMS Queen Elizabeth 2''. That was 1972.
Im not sure what her title is now
