Question about boat 4

Hello everyone, I'm new on the board and please forgive my ignorance. I have a question about boat 4. How many people this boat pulled from water? I read some crewmen arrived to boat 4 after the sinking. Can anyone know reply?

Dear Delia, boat No 4 is said to have picked up eight people from the water, viz:
1. Thomas Patrick Dillon, trimmer
2. Frederick Scott, greaser
3. Frank W Prentice, kitchen storekeeper
4. Samuel E Hemming, lamp trimmer
5. William Henry Lyons, Able Seaman (died in boat)
6. Andrew Cunningham, steward
7. Sidney C Siebert, steward (died in boat)
8. Unknown person - quite a few people have been pointed out as this eighth person.

Best regards,

Peter

Thank you for the useful info, Peter!

All the best,

Delia

Could the 8th unknown person be Thomas Ranger? He is said to have boarded at the same time as Scott, when the two engine room greasers slid down some disused lifeboat falls to reach Lifeboat No.4. Scott fell into the water and swam to the boat, but Ranger managed to keep hold of the rope and drop into the boat and it passed below him.

Thomas.
