Why does the Raise the Titanic model have the 2 cowls like the Aquitania on her forward deck??
Was it to make her look like the real ship they filmed on ??

The forward section of the model with its inaccurate forward mast, was indeed done to match the ship that they filmed on, which was an old Greek liner as I recall.

The Liner they used was an old grace line, liner the Santa Rosa I think or it's sister ship. That Ship had the two high ventilators on it.

While filming went ahead on the ex Grace Lines 'Athinai' in 1980, the 55ft model built for 'Raise The Titanic' had to be changed to fit in with bow deck scenes that were being filmed. The end result with the model were those 3 now famous cowl vents. For some reason, as 'Athinai' was waiting to be scrapped, it never dawned on the film crew to actually cut the cowl vents off the 'Athinai'.
