When Jack is throwing his cigarette over the side of the ship as he attempts to lure Rose back over the stern of the ship... does the cigarette disappear suddenly about halfway down?

Also... isn't Frederic Spedden played by Don Lynch? I heard his voice before I saw his face and could swear it was him...

Yes, Don Lynch plays the role of Frederic Spedden.

As for the cigarette disappearing halfway down, I haven't noticed that, but I'd have to watch it again.

Yes, the cigarette disappears before it reaches the end of the scene, but you can only see this in the widescreen DVD release.
