I was looking at the site for Guernseys Titanic Auction and I noticed something I hadn't seen before....

A trunk from the titanic recovered during body recovery.

Does anyone know anything about this? I've never heard of a trunk being recovered during the body recovery.

A 'travelling trunk' filled mainly with women's clothing was supposedly recovered by the Mackay Bennett. Most of the contents were eventually given away, but the trunk itself has survived along with three items from inside - a blouse, a purse and a bracelet which looks like gold but is actually made of brass. As far as I know there were no clues to identity of the former owner.

Here is a picture of the trunk. It was recovered from the debris and soon came to be owned by a New Brunswick minister, which was given to him by one of the clergy whom was on the Mackay Bennett.
The family that owns it said it was once filled with clothing.
It is now available for viewing at Audio Video Showroom in Santa Rosa, CA.
