Reginald Barker was Purser on RMS Republic at the time of her loss. It is interesting to note that that reference appears to be suppressed, along wth everything else concerning RMS Republic. Despite the fact that Republic was the largest ship in history lost to her time (succeeded only by Titanic), and 6 lives and all of her cargo were lost,, there was no public inquiry into the loss of this ship - for a reason.
