Hello all,

My first post. I have a tenuos connection to the Titanic-my father was a passenger on the Allan liner "Parisian" which was in the vicinity of Titanic when she sank. He was 20 years old, emigrating to Canada from Scotland.

Cheers, Ken

Welcome to the board Ken! Did your father know what was happening that night? I can't remember if the Parisian received any Titanic distress signals or not. Pretty cool story, it's interesting how many people have some kind of a connection to Titanic directly or indirectly.

Hi Kevin,

No, he learned of the sinking when he went down to breakfast that morning. I believe the Parisian's radio operator had gone to bed before the collision.

My grandmother was also on the Parisian. She told us that the captain told them they didn’t go to Titanic’s aid because they were a smaller ship and he was afraid they would get sucked under when they sank.
