Hi y'all,

Found some reviews of Encyclopedia Titanica on this site called "sitejabber"

There are 3, one of which is mine

1. By a Geo Lorton (why does he sound familiar?) 1 Star
"I joined Encyclopedia Titanica in the fall of 2007 and for the most part I found it a valuable resource for research on the passengers crew of the RMS Titanic. However while a member of this site I was the subject of rumor and slander and had had made up and damaging information posted about me on the forums which was left up for a month.

The Moderators did nothing about the said posts about me I had to contact the site administrator about it. He fobbed me off for a month and I still have the emails to prove it. Not only that but they threw me off for no stated reason what so ever.

Cordially,
Geo Lorton."

Two people found this helpful

2. By a Mr. Bruce P, 5 stars
"Excellent research with plenty of useful and relevant information."

the third one is my review, which I gave 5 stars

EducationWorld.com gives Encyclopedia Titanica multiples A's.

"Encyclopedia Titanica is sure to whet the appetite of anyone who is remotely interested in this famous ship and voyage. It includes biographies, articles, passenger lists, crew lists, photographs, and much more. Visitors can view an animation of the sinking ship, see a slide show of actual wreck pictures, and take an interactive tour of the deck plans. The material is updated regularly, and the What's New section keeps users up-to-date. Editor Phillip Hind has collected the information presented here from historians, articles and newspapers, and survivors and their families. This material could be used with older elementary and middle school kids for teaching report-writing skills or for older students to use as part of more in-depth research projects."

An A for Organization:
"The site is well organized. It has a left-side menu and an interactive site map at the top of the page. All internal pages have a bottom navigation menu. In addition, text links are provided from the main page to the various sections of the site. A search tool is available."

An A for Aesthetic
"The site uses graphics and color to break up the pages. There is an enormous amount of information available, and this site covers it very well."

A for content

"Encyclopedia Titanica is a unique resource containing lots of information about the famed Titanic."

To me, that sounds very much like one side of the proverbial coin. What I'd like to know is what prompted those alleged "rumours, slander and damaging information". I have found the ET Moderators and Admins far more tolerant than most other forums and if they really deleted this member, I am sure that they must have had very strong and justifiable reasons for doing so.

Heyo Arun, how are you?

I remember Mr. Lorton, he is still on the forum, I read some of his old messages in older threads. His profile isn't deleted either.

Definitely sounds like someone who got mad and wrote it just to make the other look bad. This is the best website I've ever been on, Mark and Philip do a great job.
