Senate Investigation Report for auction

Lot 352 in Dominic Winter Book Auctions (www.dominicwinter.co.uk) Collectors' Sale on Thursday 18th May is a copy of the rare English edition of the famous Senate Investigation into the causes leading to the wreck of the White Star Liner Titanic on April 14th, 1912. The text of the proceedings includes testimony by all the key witnesses, including Ismay, Marconi, Lightoller, Rostron, and other surviving passengers and crew. This copy was originally given to Willoughby Maycock, the Superintendent of the Treaties Division of the Foreign Office. The Epilogue to the American hearings, of May 28, is not included in this edition. It is likely that only a small number of copies were printed as soon as the texts were available from the United States, and issued to a limited number of Government ministers and civil servants. No copy of this work exists in any UK library, and only the L.S.E. and Foreign Office Library hold copies of the American edition.
A full description is in the online version of the catalogue with a pre-sale estimate of £3000-4000.
