I happened across this image on Google Earth. From what I can gather, there has always been rumors of a ship carrying a significant amount of treasure that sunk near the shore of Yerba Buena Island, but none has ever been discovered. Does anybody know what ship this is if any?

Hmmm. It looks like pretty shallow waters. I’d be surprised if no one in the area already knew about it. Good find!

I was thinking the same thing, Kyle. I just could find no mention of any known shipwrecks off the shore of Yerba Buena Island, With the exception of the attached map, from 1859. There are references to William “Barnacle Bill” Bernard going treasure-hunting on Yerba Buena Island after hearing rumors of buried treasure from a Spanish galleon that crashed on its shores. There is no mention of any shipwrecks near Yerba Buena Island on any of the San Francisco shipwreck maps that I could find, either.

I pretty sure that's just a glitch on Google Maps. The software stitched together photos from different dates and created the Pepper's Ghost Effect.
