Whilst trawling through some older posts regarding Captain Smith's actions, I wondered if any of these might have been affected by his age and/or physical and mental health. He was afterall 62 years old and from a family where most of the men died in their sixties. The question I want to ask is was there any type of medical or competancy test that White Star officers would have been obliged to undertake to keep working?
