I was notified that there was another ship that saw the Titanic's emergency fireworks. But they thought that they were having a party and just sailed by.I would like to know what was the name of the ship.- Cady
It was Captain Hook's pirate ship! In other words, it's a fairy tale.
It may have started when a lawyer in England asked Herbert Stone of Californian if he thought that the rockets he saw were being sent up for fun. It was just a bit of sarcasm. It might have given some idiot the idea for a story.
You'll find that there are dozens of tall tales about Titanic. My personal favourite is the story of Rigel the dog who helped a lifeboat to safety.
Rigel the dog? LOL! Let us hope that Tracy Smith doesn't see the name of this thread; it could turn out to be lengthly! (By the way, today's my birthday!)
Happy Birthday Brandon!! Does this mean you're 16!!! Sweet 16 and never been kissed, as my father would say. (actually it sounded pretty corny then, too!
)
Have a great day!
To Cady, I would suggest reading A Night To Remember (ANTR) or The Night Lives On both by Walter Lord (if you haven't already) They will shed light on your concerns/questions about other ships.
Dave: Captain Hook's Pirate ship, indeed!
(however there were "pirates" of sorts at that time, and that is a theory. Don't we have a thread about this somewhere???)
To all: it's a lovely day here in Seattle, rain, rain, rain!!! Gotta love it (because there are very few options!!)
well anyway Happy Birthday to you Brandon, but Kate I live in Louisiana and it's storming in here, i want it to snow, but i guess living in the south has it's disadvantages. and i don't want the Saints to leave!!! they need to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Cady
Kate: In South London, it's 22 degrees (Celsius) in the shade - a happy relief from the 29 degrees of yesterday. (Phew!) I think 29C is about 90-ish in Fahrenheit.
Thanks for all the warm happy birthdays. Kyrila, your singing was lovely. I'm actaully just 15 today, although I've been saying I'm 15 for the past few months, cuz c'mon I was close enough!!
Should we re-name this thread "stupid weather"?! Geee it looks like icky (a 5th grade word if ever there was one!)all over.
So Brandon, you've been rounding up, eh?? I used to do that, but my next birthday is a pretty big one so I've stopped doing that. And you say you've been kissed? Well I used to teach high school in Virginia I've heard sweet Virginia kisses are the best. More power to ya fella!!!!
And Paul, if my English to "English" translation skills are working, it's really hot where you are. Should we send a bit of our cooling rain your way???
Hey, Cady, did you find any answers to your questions about the phamtom ship??
(just thought I'd bring it back to the indended thread.
Happy Birthday Brandon.
Today is my daughter's birthday too. She's 6.
as for the weather. Its been sunny and 83 today. just a beauty of a day!
I have a feeling though that all that rain is a heading up north and tomorrow will be nasty!
have a great day!!!
