Style of Cabin

What a great photograph, thank you for sharing it.

I'd say that this stateroom is decorated in the Empire style, which was popular throughout Europe in the first decade of the 19th Century. This is a particularly elegant interpretation - the furniture and interiors of the Empire style (which was a natural progression from the neoclassicism in vogue during the reign of Louis XVI) can often seem both vulgar and heavy but, in this instance, the white walls with their gilded mouldings ensure a lighter, airier feel.

Hi Jack,

That cabin is C-59 aboard Olympic one of two C Deck Parlor Suites and the same cabin the Strauss' occupied aboard Titanic (C-57), it is indeed in the Empire decor.

Best Regards,

Brian
