The Big Four...by Mark Chirnside

If your interested in other WSL ships especially ones that predated the Olympic class ships I would recommend getting The Big Four by Mark C. I've been going thru it. It's a really good book on the ships. Lots of good pics and illustrations and interesting side stories too. Have learned many interesting things reading this book. Cheers all.
P.S....if one is interested in getting it I would pull the trigger and get it. Not a lot of copies left out there. Still looking for his Aquitania book.

I to have Marks good book of the Big Four where I can see he must have taken a few years if not more into the research of the ships.
If you can't get Mark book there is another good book on White Star ships by Richard De Kerbrech: SHIPS OF THE WHITE STAR LINE. Which does cover the big four but not so much detail as Mark book has.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've got 3 books on my list to get about ships. That is pretty much it. I've got so many books piled up that I have bought and haven't gotten to yet I need to stop getting them for awhile. I've become a slacker as far as reading goes since I got into restoreing machines more heavily. Most of my time goes to that now. But I'm between projects so trying to knock out some of the books. The Big Four is still available but that can change fast with not a lot of copies left. Cheers.

Thanks for the kind comments Steven, JJAstorII, Mark, Mike and Chad1234 - much appreciated. The cheque's in the post to each of you. (Just kidding - I'll use Venmo! ;))

I’m still trying to find Mark’s books about the Majestic and the Aquitania.
Here you go - through this link you will find Mark's Aquitania book priced at $9.99:

Most copies of Mark's Majestic book are outrageously priced ($143 and up!), but I managed to find this one at a far more reasonable cost:

And yes, Mark is a top bloke, a good friend of mine and his books are meticulously well researched.

You're very kind, Jason!

Aquitania is (hopefully) going through a mini reprint for mid December.

As regards Majestic, I don't have a copy of the original book myself! You're quite right that second-hand prices are typically ridiculously high. (If some of those prices were realised, the seller would probably have earned more from that single book than I did for the entirety.) However, you might want to keep an eye out over the next 12 months for an announcement about this particular title.

Thanks for your interest in my work, Chad1234.

Nice. Will keep a lookout for it.

My pleasure, Mark!

I'll definitely keep a lookout, with regards to your Majestic book.

What I can see there is just the one book on RMS Aquitania by Mark which I am very glad he had published. This was a splendid ship in her day's certainty a match for Titanic with 36 years of service.

Thank you for writing such great books. The one about the Big Four is still my favorite.
