What was the exact layout of the Purser`s Office
on C deck forward?
If it had:
- a currency exchange counter;
- safe deposit boxes for passengers;
- a counter that took telegraph messages;
- pneumatic tubes to send radiograms to the
Marconi room topside;
- a telegraph boy to deliver them;
- and a rather grand telephone exchange;

It must have been the hub of activity on C
Deck. Any pictures?

Who was the telephone switchboard staff?
Who was the operator on duty at 11:40 pm Sunday
April 14th ?

Lawrence, the only telephone exchange I've seen on deckplans was elsewhere on C deck - one of the rooms located just forward of the elevators near the centreline. Only one crew member signed on as a 'telephone steward' - a Mr S Perkins, who did not survive.

The Purser's domain consisted of two rooms, the office itself and the inter-connecting Enquiry office where the counter and messaging equipment were located. The safe was presumably out of sight in the main office.

Hey,
If you consult Bruce Beveridge's Titanic blueprints, you may find that they'll prove quite useful in your quest. Good Luck.
