Hi, folks,

The dates for this year's Titanic International Society have been set -- Friday, May 1-Sunday, May 3 and it will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Events and programs are still being finalized and will be announced later in Voyage or in a mailing to members and on the Web site, http://www.titanicinternationalsociety.org/ under "Convention." There is some basic info on the Convention blog now -- the flier that was sent to members with the recent issue of Voyage is posted there. As you will see, we've managed to secure a very good room rate of $115, as hotels in the Philly area can be quite costly. We are also trying hard to keep costs down in light of the current economic situation.

It's our 20th anniversary and we're returning to the city where the first convention was held. There will be some special aspects to help celebrate this landmark!

Mark the date on your calendar and hope to see you there!

Founded in 1989 by noted Titanic historians Charles Haas and John P. Eaton, the International Titanic Society is returning to the place of its founding for its 20th Anniversary convention. This year’s convention will be held May 1st to 3rd in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, PA, and promises to be a spectacular event.

A “Titanic”￾ tour of Philadelphia is planned, including a visit to the liner United States, the fastest passenger ship ever built. Haas and Eaton will be on hand for the North American première of “Titanic Nuggets.”￾ And I will be there as well, signing souvenir copies of Titanic: Relative Fate.

Registration ends soon. Visit http://tisconvention2009.wordpress.com/ for more details.

Hope to see you there!

Look forward to meeting you as well, V.C. Those attending will have a chance to buy a good book! Not to mention getting it autographed.

By the way, I'm collecting items for the auction at the convention. If anyone has anything you'd like to donate from your collection or an overfull closet, let me know what it is. You can either mail the items to me (email me privately for my mailing address), or just bring them to the convention. Every year this auction raises from several hundred to a thousand dollars for TIS activities.

There is a list of what I have collected so far on the TIS Web site http://www.titanicinternationalsociety.org/ under the Convention link. There is also registration info there. Deadline to register is coming up very soon--April 8.

Hope to see you there,

Mary Ann
